Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG), which was established within the scope of law no. 6550 as one of the first four research infrastructures of Turkey, has been operating since 2014. Founded by members of Dokuz Eylul University to establish a regional center of attraction for science, technology and innovation in Izmir, IBG’s main objective is to carry out powerful research on biomedicine and genome sciences, to develop products based on medical and pharmaceutical biotechnologies using its workforce and technical infrastructure, and thus, to contribute to universal science and the transformation of our national industry.

IBG is the largest (22.500 m2) and well-equipped research infrastructure in Turkey in the field of life sciences. In the main building which comprises 7 floors, basıc and translatıonal research program, technologıcal research program, ındustrıal r&d program are conducted in the fields of cancer, genomics and bioinformatics, stem cells and regeneration, immunology and infectious diseases, neuroscience and bioengineering on 8.250 m2 of laboratory space. The building also has a service area of 6.600 m2, which was set up using modern and advanced technologies.

In addition to these, international conferences and symposiums are held every year, as well as comprehensive training activities such as courses, workshops, summer schools and seminars.
