The second joint meeting of the newly established “DEU-IBG Brain Research Platform” was held on April 24, 2019 at IBG.

Dr.Stefan Dimitrov, Assoc.Prof.Gökhan Karakülah, Dr.Yavuz Oktay, Dr.Sibel Kalyoncu and Assoc.Prof.Güneş Özhan presented their research at IBG. Participants discussed future steps to be taken to strengthen the collaborations among DEU-IBG Brain Research Platform members.

Basic and clinical scientists from a wide variety of disciplines attended the meeting, including Neurology, Psychiatry, Pediatric Neurology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Bioinformatics, Genomics, Developmental Biology and Antibody Engineering. All participants expressed their strong support of these meetings and emphasized the importance of following each other’s most current research and developing new collaborative ideas. It was decided that working groups should be structured dynamically to allow maximum interaction between members of the platform and could be shaped around the “Neuro-genomics” and “Treatment Approaches” foci. Participants agreed that future efforts should focus on developing joint projects. In this context, the importance of biobanking was emphasized, and it was concluded that IBG Biobank could make substantial and immediate contributions to joint studies.
