Grant support to IBG researcher under the EUPAHW 2024 call
The project titled “Evolution of avian influenza viruses in the context of vaccination (EVIVA)”, led by Dr. Zeynep Ahsen Koçer, Research Group Leader at IBG, has been awarded for funding under the European Partnership on Animal Health and Welfare (EUPAHW) 2024 call within the scope of the TÜBİTAK Multilateral Cooperation Program.
This international consortium project is coordinated by Prof. Claudia Maria Trombetta (University of Siena) and involves nine institutions, five main and four associated partners (University of Siena, INRAE, Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie, Erasmus Medical Center, IBG, Ceva Santé Animale, National Research Center (NRC), IAV, VisMederi).
The primary objective of the project is to develop and validate new methodologies to enhance understanding of the relationship between vaccination-induced immune responses in poultry and the antigenic drift that may occur in avian influenza viruses following vaccination. All experimental studies within this project will be conducted by the other consortium partners, while IBG will only be responsible for performing bioinformatics analyses. Dr. Koçer and her team will develop a user-friendly bioinformatics tool to facilitate the detailed investigation of mutations in the HA antigenic gene associated with vaccination.
