Welcome to IBG Visiting Scientist Program

IBG is focused on transformative research on major human diseases to combat global health issues. IBG aims to be a discovery and innovation center that translates new scientific knowledge in life sciences into benefits for the health and well-being of society, and accelerates the national economy with scientific discoveries.

IBG welcomes scientists and students from all over the world for collaborations with principle investigators at IBG. These visiting scientists range from trainees seeking to gain experience with the best scientists to group leaders who wish to carry out a specific project. Access to our research environment, core facilities and seminar programs will enrich visiting scientist’s stay with us.

Who can apply

• Undergraduate students who have ongoing undergraduate thesis in their university
• Master students who have ongoing master thesis in their university
• PhD students who have ongoing doctoral thesis in their university
• A person with BSc. and/or MSc. and/or PhD. degree(s) who is no longer enrolled in a university. The main interest of those candidates should be gaining scientific experience from principle investigator of their choice for their ongoing and/or future careers
• Postdoctoral fellows who have ongoing postdoctoral studies at a different university/institute/research center/company
• Staff researchers or technical experts with a PhD. degree
• Group leaders who would like to collaborate with principle investigators at IBG

How to apply

• Candidate should directly contact principle investigator of their choice
• Acceptance to the program will depend on the availability of space and ongoing projects in the respective principle investigator lab and approval of IBGDirector
• There are no specific deadlines for application but early planning is important
• Candidate should submit an application letter as below:
  • A CV highlighting their research experiences
  • A short statement about their research interests and why they are interested in the chosen principle investigator lab
  • Information about the purpose and intended duration of their visit
  • Information about the funding situation for their visit
  • Contact information for a faculty member at their home university who is prepared to support their visit (if applicable)

Duration

• Minimum visiting period is 1 month and maximum visiting period is 12 months
• Maximum period can be extended upon request. Extension requests will be evaluated by principle investigator of choice and IBG director

Remuneration

• There is no salary provided by IBG (they can keep their existing salary from other sources)
• Basic health insurance should be covered either by visitor or their institution
• Principle investigators at IBG is responsible for all laboratory expenses and core facility usage fees related to visiting scientist research
